Chinese Numerology

The tale that is told is that the first of the five mythical emperors of China, Wu of Hsai, was working on the banks of the Yellow River trying to find a method to prevent the floods that regularly devastated the communities located along the river. It was during the course of this work that Wu found a tortoise shell, which at the time was considered to be a very good omen.

This particular tortoise shell, however, was extremely rare, unique and special because it had fascinating markings on it. The shell showed a magic 3×3 square on its back that later became known as the Lo Shu Grid. The Lo Shu Grid was particularly remarkable because every row, column and diagonal on the grid add up to the number 15.

The number 15 was very significant because it is the number of days between the new moon and the full moon. Additionally, the number 5 was highly respected in ancient China, and was located in the important center square of the grid.

The Lo Shu Grid became the basis of Chinese numerology and is still used today in the Far East.

The grid took on a different adaptation in the West, and eventually over time Chinese numerology evolved into three different systems that are used today. There is the Western Version of Chinese Numerology, Traditional Chinese Numerology and the Ki system.

There is very little known about the origins of the Western version of Chinese numerology, although Hettie Templeton is credited with its popularization. Templeton taught classes and gave numerous public lectures and broadcasts throughout Australia during the 1930′s and 40′s. Her teachings helped Western Chinese Numerology gain the popularity it enjoys today, so most of the current information regarding this form of numerology comes from Australia and New Zealand.

The Western version of Chinese Numerology is by far the easiest of the three versions of Chinese Numerology to learn, and it is believed by many to be the most accurate. In fact, there are a large number of numerologists in China and Hong Kong who use the Western version rather than the traditional version of Chinese Numerology.

Chinese numerology uses only the numbers 1-9, and 0 is not included. Western Chinese numerology uses a square made up of 9 boxes – 3 down and 3 across. You can think of this square like a tic-tac-toe square or like a number sign (#) Each box in the square has a number from 1-9 associated with it. The boxes are numbered from 1-9 starting in the lower left square and moving up each column. So, from bottom to top in the first column would be 1,2,3, from bottom to top in the second column would be 4,5,6, and the last column from bottom to top would contain the numbers 7,8 and 9.

The numbers from a person’s date of birth are then input into these boxes one at a time. So for instance, if someone was born in the year 1966, they would have one 1 in the bottom left box, one 9 in the top right box, and two 6′s in the top middle box.

Depending upon how many of each number a person has in their grid, you can tell a lot about their strengths and weaknesses, their character traits and more.

It can be differ from who you really are as some people constantly put up a front hiding their true personality. The personality number gives a person some indication whether the rest of the world sees them as they really are.
For example, a person possessing Number 1 conflicts with the realities being selfishness is not the way to tackle things. It is very difficult for them to select a particular field to work for. They even do not believe things easily. These people are not ambitious with their lives. Once they start their work, they get serious with it and attain remarkable success without any sort of human interruptions.
The humans with this number are born leaders with the leadership qualities inculcated to them. They have the possibilities to make their stand in Judiciary, government or semi-government organizations, medical, engineering and also being a jeweler. These have the capabilities to run an organization of their own or to become the president of some big enterprise. Working as subordinates is not at all a favorable condition for these as it results in development of inner frustration of them.
Each letter of a name has a numeric value.
The numeric values of all the letters in a name when added together give you a resultant number.

The Career Makeover: 7 Steps to Achieving Your Goals

Makeovers on television shows and in magazines are enticing for women the world over. Of course the reason they are so popular, is because the idea of getting a fresh start in life is a golden key we have all dreamt about at one time or another. No matter what their lives are like, everyone has something they wish could be different – their home, their body, their friends, and even their career.

Career makeovers are not a new concept and if you think about it, making over your career will automatically set a chain reaction in motion that will affect all aspects of your life, particularly those that are unsatisfactory. If you’ve ever changed jobs or industries, worked with a recruiter, drafted a new resume or pursued additional education to increase your job prospects or opportunities, you’ve already taken steps to improve or “make over” your career.

How do you perceive yourself? Are you confident? Do you like yourself? Are you proud of your accomplishments? What is your attitude to life, on working, on the value that you bring to your job? How do you feel about your career? Do you feel in control of your future? Working on your “inner self” is of critical importance when it comes to creating a career makeover. If your internal thoughts are not consistent with the actions that you need to take, you’ll continually feel a sense of disconnect. Others will feel it too. All change starts on the inside. If you need support in this area, consider counseling or coaching, whichever is most appropriate for your situation. Until the inner issues are resolved or healed, it can be very challenging to take the necessary steps that lead to a fulfilling career.

A key component of effectively managing your career starts with managing your time efficiently. Do you keep your work life separate from your home life? Do you take work home in the evenings or weekends? Do you talk about work ALL THE TIME? Do you take time to recharge your batteries so that you feel refreshed? This is probably one of the most difficult areas when it comes to career makeovers. It takes a lot of courage to “draw the line” when it comes to balancing your life. Many women feel that if they don’t give everything to their job, then they won’t have a job, yet, the opposite is actually true. If you’re working for a company which does not allow you to set boundaries around your time, you WILL burn out. Before this happens it is probably best that you start looking for a new position. It’s a difficult choice to make, but ultimately it’s up to you to set boundaries around what types of treatment you will accept from others – including your employer. If you can’t achieve work/life balance in your current job, you will never be able to give it your best, simply because you will not be at your best which in turn will affect your future career prospects.

They say birds of a feather flock together. Are your friends dragging you down? ( I was told my friends were holding me back by a naturopath when I was in my early 20’s I was VERY angry with him and protective of my friends – but a year later when I had taken a grip of my life and moved on, I realized he had been completely right!) Is your network of friends and associates supportive of you and your goals, or are they constantly telling you that your dreams are too lofty? Do they drag you into their gossip or do they inspire you with thoughtful conversation? In essence your ambition can be affected by the people around you and because of this your personal and professional relationships will have a tremendous influence on your career success. Therefore, to get your relationships in check, evaluate your friendships and acquaintances. It might be time to start gently letting go of some of the relationships that aren’t serving you, which will allow you to fill the empty spaces with new friends who will support you. Make sure you’re forging relationships with the people who see your value, and surround yourself with mentors who are helpful in assisting you to move forward.

Having an idea of where you want to go is one of the most important steps in your career makeover. Until you know where you want to be or what you want to have, it’s impossible to decide on the correct steps to get you there. How do you envision your ideal life? What type of job would make you happy? What brings you the most joy? What type of position would you like to see yourself working in 5 years time? Give yourself permission to think about what you really want, dare to dream a little. Remember what seems impossible today is only so because you haven’t had the opportunity to break the journey from here to there down into manageable chunks – now you are ready to start working on your career makeover.

Once you have a vision of what you think you might want. It’s now time to assess where you are now. What are your strengths and your weaknesses? What skills do you have? Which ones will you need in order to achieve your career vision? You need to know where you are now versus where you want to be in the future. The rest is about managing the “gap” in between. Here is where the career makeover really takes place and this is the secret to making it possible…

Imagine you have your dream job and are living your dream life. What was the final step you had to take to make this all possible, now what was the step before that? Work this process through until you arrive back at where you are today. Now you are aware of these steps, you know what you have to do to achieve your goals in manageable chunks. Your next course of action is to develop a plan for achieving these goals thereby giving each part of the process a timeline.

One of the most obvious ways to create a career makeover is to work on your skills. Whether you go back to school to earn an advanced degree or take training classes here and there, anything that you can do to improve yourself can benefit your career. Learn more about your industry; attend conferences where you can keep abreast of the latest trends. Network with possible mentors. Buy books written by leaders in your field. Read industry periodicals and other materials that deep your knowledge. Check with your human resources department to find out what types of internal training opportunities are available. Take advantage of your company’s tuition reimbursement programs. Continuing your education is essential no matter how you do it. Studying will not be a chore. If you are doing work you love you will be passionate about absorbing as much information about your field as you can!

And finally plan for the future.
No matter who you are or whom you know, you career will have its ups and downs. These days it’s unrealistic to think you’ll have a job for life. You might be transferred, demoted, or get a new boss that you don’t enjoy. You could even lose your job because of a downturn in your industry. These are realities of work life today. To lessen the possibility of your becoming an economic statistic it’s always a good idea to have options. This means you need to think about your exit plan. What would you do if you wanted to leave, or lost your job for whatever reason? Even the people who are happy in their jobs today should have an exit strategy, so take my advice and start working on it now. Don’t wait until it’s too late and you’re in panic mode.

In conclusion, always remember, no matter what career or life choices you make, ALL women need a strategic career plan. Your career makeover is ultimately your responsibility. You are the master of your life and it’s up to you to make a plan. Once you have a clear plan, take the steps that lead you to fulfilling your ultimate vision. One powerful way of helping you stay on track is by working with a coach who can help you make the transition more quickly. A good coach gives you support you need, helps you to stay focused and on track. With proper guidance, you will quickly find yourself achieving your career goals.

Destiny and the Law of Karma

Some of us believe that we have full control over our lives. However, this may not be entirely true. Destiny or fate plays a very important role in our lives irrespective of our gender, race, religion, nationality etc. To explain the concept of destiny, we need to understand what destiny is. The popular western view is that we are in control of our lives and everything that happens to us is because of our own choice. On the other hand, the popular eastern view is that not every thing that happens to us is under our control and that we are nothing but puppets in a preordained plan.

However, neither of these views are completely correct. According to the science of Spirituality, in the current times 65% of our lives are ruled by Destiny and 35% by wilful action. However, we can overcome the 65% of the Destiny part, by using the 35% of our wilful action to undertake the correct spiritual practice.

Destiny is when one has no control over life situations. Wilful action is that portion of one’s life, which is still under one’s control.

An example of wilful action: Let us take an example of a person who is drunk and has a poorly maintained car. In this state he decides to drive his car down a steep mountainside, crossing speed limits. He loses control of his car and skids off the road down the mountainside. Would that be an accident caused by destiny or wilful action? It would be due to his wilful action and not due to Destiny as he could have chosen not to drink and drive. He also had the option of keeping his car well maintained and could have driven it within the speed limits.

An example of an event influenced by destiny: Let us take another example wherein the person does not drink, drives his well-maintained car carefully, down the same mountainside within speed limits. All of a sudden, a portion of the road collapses due to a landslide and he meets with an accident. In this case, the person had no control over the landslide that occurred and hence this is a destined event.

Destiny heavily influences many aspects of our lives, such as the decisions that we make, with whom we spend our lives etc. All major events in our life such as birth, marriage, major illnesses, accidents and death are pre-destined.

Now, let us see why and how Destiny is created by us.

Destiny and the rule of Give-and-Take

According to the ‘Law of Karma’, every positive deed generates a ‘merit’ while every negative deed generates a ‘demerit’ or a sin. Subsequently one has to reap the results of one’s deeds as a part of destiny. Whenever one does a good deed to others, it is bound to give a positive return (in the form of some happiness). Whenever one inflicts harm, it is bound to give a negative return in the form of sorrow in some form. It cannot be undone by a simple ‘Sorry’! The ‘law of Karma’ is infallible. Throughout our lives, we are either settling an old account i.e. fulfilling our destiny, or creating a new one. If for some reason, the account cannot be settled in this birth, it gets carried over to the next birth. We are not consciously aware of the give-and-take accounts or the destiny that is generated in our previous births.

All major events in our lives such as the time and place of birth, our spouse, death, etc. occur as planned in our Destiny. One is born into a particular family, where conditions are conducive to undergo one’s destiny and where one has a significant give-and-take account with each member of the family. In addition, one also has a different give-and-take account with different individuals with whom one comes across such as relatives, close friends, neighbours, colleagues, etc.

If we continue to use our wilful actions without undertaking spiritual practice then we will keep accumulating a give and take account thus increasing our destiny, and our spiritual growth will stagnate. This will keep us trapped in the vicious cycle of birth and death and away from the basic objective of achieving Liberation.

As Destiny is a spiritual root cause of difficulties in our life, we can nullify or reduce the effects of destiny only by undertaking the spiritual practice most conducive to the times. This is because destiny is completely a spiritual aspect, and can be overcome only with a spiritual remedy, which is undertaking spiritual practice as per the basic principles of Spirituality.

Your Birthpath – The Key to Your Destiny

I guide you in the way of wisdom and
lead you along straight paths.
Proverbs 4:11

You will make known to me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.
Psalm 16:11

Your Birthpath or Destiny number, derived from your date of birth, is the single most influential number of the numeroscope. It symbolizes your characteristic approach to life and describes those vocational paths that are most compatible with your personality.

The Birthpath Number is the sum of the birth date. That is, it is the sum of the numbers in your month, day, and year of your birth expressed as a single digit or master number. The Birthpath Number is also referred to as the Birth Path Number, the Date of Birth Number, the Life Path Number, the Destiny Number, and the Birth Force Number. Unlike many of the numbers that make up the complete life plan, the Birthpath Number never changes.

The Birthpath signifies the traits with which one is born and which will continue the individual throughout life. It describes the person’s life journey. The Birthpath reveals the direction or purpose of one’s life. It shows the best way for one to fulfill his or her obligations in this life and the most harmonious manner to move through this lifetime. The Birthpath Number is like a seed planted on the day of birth. It refers to the greatest assets available in this life. Conscious awareness of the Birthpath number can bring clarity to what seemed to be chaotic. Knowledge of one’s Birthpath Number can be used as a guide to actualizing one’s full potential.

The wisdom that one has accumulated over the ages is carried by the Birthpath Number. It is part of the soul’s spiritual, mental, and emotional heritage. However, everything that one has attained is not necessarily expressed by the Birthpath. The Birthpath Number expresses only those abilities, talents, and assets chosen by the soul for use in this particular lifetime. The talents and abilities acquired in past lifetimes are innate or present at birth. The Birthpath Number describes what has already attained.

Even though these qualities have already been acquired, the individual must pass through certain events, experiences, and challenges in order to discover them once again. Permission to follow the Birthpath as a child gives one a definite advantage in life and builds confidence and self-esteem.

Do not wrongly conclude that because one’s Birthpath Number is greater than someone else’s that he or she is are more spiritually advanced. That is a Birthpath of 8 is not greater than a 5 or a 2. That is not how numerology works. (This true for all the numbers in the numeroscope.) Besides, playing the “Holier Than Thou” game is guaranteed to set one back in the game of spiritual growth and enlightenment if there were such a game.

The Birthpath Number is especially useful in determining vocational tendencies and possibilities. It describes the abilities, talents, and personality characteristics that will be needed to fulfill one’s destiny, especially one’s vocational destiny. However, even though we are born with one particular Birth path Number, it is possible to develop a new one during any particular life.

The Birthpath Number is derived from the date of birth. First, reduce each unit (month/day/year) of the birth date to a single-digit or a master number (11, 22). Then add the three resulting digits or master numbers together.

Next, reduce this sum to a single digit or master number. In other words, convert the month to a single digit or master number. Then convert the day of birth to a single digit or master number. Next, add the total digits of year together and reduce this sum to a single digit or master number. Then add the individual digits representing the month, day, and year together.

Example #1

For example, if a person was born on October 3, 1975 (10/03/1975), add the digits of the month together -10. 1 + 0 = 1. Add the digits of the day together -03. 0 + 3 = 3. Add the digits of the year together -1975. 1 + 9 + 7 + 5 = 22. Finally, add the month, day, and year digits together -1, 3, 22. 1 + 3 + 22 = 26. Reduce 26. 2 + 6 = 8. The Birthpath number for October 3, 1975 is 8.

October 3, 1975
Birth Month: October (the 10th month)
Birth Day: 3
Birth Year: 1975
Birth Month: 10 = 1 + 0 = 1
Birth Day: 3
