Destiny and the Law of Karma

Some of us believe that we have full control over our lives. However, this may not be entirely true. Destiny or fate plays a very important role in our lives irrespective of our gender, race, religion, nationality etc. To explain the concept of destiny, we need to understand what destiny is. The popular western view is that we are in control of our lives and everything that happens to us is because of our own choice. On the other hand, the popular eastern view is that not every thing that happens to us is under our control and that we are nothing but puppets in a preordained plan.

However, neither of these views are completely correct. According to the science of Spirituality, in the current times 65% of our lives are ruled by Destiny and 35% by wilful action. However, we can overcome the 65% of the Destiny part, by using the 35% of our wilful action to undertake the correct spiritual practice.

Destiny is when one has no control over life situations. Wilful action is that portion of one’s life, which is still under one’s control.

An example of wilful action: Let us take an example of a person who is drunk and has a poorly maintained car. In this state he decides to drive his car down a steep mountainside, crossing speed limits. He loses control of his car and skids off the road down the mountainside. Would that be an accident caused by destiny or wilful action? It would be due to his wilful action and not due to Destiny as he could have chosen not to drink and drive. He also had the option of keeping his car well maintained and could have driven it within the speed limits.

An example of an event influenced by destiny: Let us take another example wherein the person does not drink, drives his well-maintained car carefully, down the same mountainside within speed limits. All of a sudden, a portion of the road collapses due to a landslide and he meets with an accident. In this case, the person had no control over the landslide that occurred and hence this is a destined event.

Destiny heavily influences many aspects of our lives, such as the decisions that we make, with whom we spend our lives etc. All major events in our life such as birth, marriage, major illnesses, accidents and death are pre-destined.

Now, let us see why and how Destiny is created by us.

Destiny and the rule of Give-and-Take

According to the ‘Law of Karma’, every positive deed generates a ‘merit’ while every negative deed generates a ‘demerit’ or a sin. Subsequently one has to reap the results of one’s deeds as a part of destiny. Whenever one does a good deed to others, it is bound to give a positive return (in the form of some happiness). Whenever one inflicts harm, it is bound to give a negative return in the form of sorrow in some form. It cannot be undone by a simple ‘Sorry’! The ‘law of Karma’ is infallible. Throughout our lives, we are either settling an old account i.e. fulfilling our destiny, or creating a new one. If for some reason, the account cannot be settled in this birth, it gets carried over to the next birth. We are not consciously aware of the give-and-take accounts or the destiny that is generated in our previous births.

All major events in our lives such as the time and place of birth, our spouse, death, etc. occur as planned in our Destiny. One is born into a particular family, where conditions are conducive to undergo one’s destiny and where one has a significant give-and-take account with each member of the family. In addition, one also has a different give-and-take account with different individuals with whom one comes across such as relatives, close friends, neighbours, colleagues, etc.

If we continue to use our wilful actions without undertaking spiritual practice then we will keep accumulating a give and take account thus increasing our destiny, and our spiritual growth will stagnate. This will keep us trapped in the vicious cycle of birth and death and away from the basic objective of achieving Liberation.

As Destiny is a spiritual root cause of difficulties in our life, we can nullify or reduce the effects of destiny only by undertaking the spiritual practice most conducive to the times. This is because destiny is completely a spiritual aspect, and can be overcome only with a spiritual remedy, which is undertaking spiritual practice as per the basic principles of Spirituality.

Your Birthpath – The Key to Your Destiny

I guide you in the way of wisdom and
lead you along straight paths.
Proverbs 4:11

You will make known to me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.
Psalm 16:11

Your Birthpath or Destiny number, derived from your date of birth, is the single most influential number of the numeroscope. It symbolizes your characteristic approach to life and describes those vocational paths that are most compatible with your personality.

The Birthpath Number is the sum of the birth date. That is, it is the sum of the numbers in your month, day, and year of your birth expressed as a single digit or master number. The Birthpath Number is also referred to as the Birth Path Number, the Date of Birth Number, the Life Path Number, the Destiny Number, and the Birth Force Number. Unlike many of the numbers that make up the complete life plan, the Birthpath Number never changes.

The Birthpath signifies the traits with which one is born and which will continue the individual throughout life. It describes the person’s life journey. The Birthpath reveals the direction or purpose of one’s life. It shows the best way for one to fulfill his or her obligations in this life and the most harmonious manner to move through this lifetime. The Birthpath Number is like a seed planted on the day of birth. It refers to the greatest assets available in this life. Conscious awareness of the Birthpath number can bring clarity to what seemed to be chaotic. Knowledge of one’s Birthpath Number can be used as a guide to actualizing one’s full potential.

The wisdom that one has accumulated over the ages is carried by the Birthpath Number. It is part of the soul’s spiritual, mental, and emotional heritage. However, everything that one has attained is not necessarily expressed by the Birthpath. The Birthpath Number expresses only those abilities, talents, and assets chosen by the soul for use in this particular lifetime. The talents and abilities acquired in past lifetimes are innate or present at birth. The Birthpath Number describes what has already attained.

Even though these qualities have already been acquired, the individual must pass through certain events, experiences, and challenges in order to discover them once again. Permission to follow the Birthpath as a child gives one a definite advantage in life and builds confidence and self-esteem.

Do not wrongly conclude that because one’s Birthpath Number is greater than someone else’s that he or she is are more spiritually advanced. That is a Birthpath of 8 is not greater than a 5 or a 2. That is not how numerology works. (This true for all the numbers in the numeroscope.) Besides, playing the “Holier Than Thou” game is guaranteed to set one back in the game of spiritual growth and enlightenment if there were such a game.

The Birthpath Number is especially useful in determining vocational tendencies and possibilities. It describes the abilities, talents, and personality characteristics that will be needed to fulfill one’s destiny, especially one’s vocational destiny. However, even though we are born with one particular Birth path Number, it is possible to develop a new one during any particular life.

The Birthpath Number is derived from the date of birth. First, reduce each unit (month/day/year) of the birth date to a single-digit or a master number (11, 22). Then add the three resulting digits or master numbers together.

Next, reduce this sum to a single digit or master number. In other words, convert the month to a single digit or master number. Then convert the day of birth to a single digit or master number. Next, add the total digits of year together and reduce this sum to a single digit or master number. Then add the individual digits representing the month, day, and year together.

Example #1

For example, if a person was born on October 3, 1975 (10/03/1975), add the digits of the month together -10. 1 + 0 = 1. Add the digits of the day together -03. 0 + 3 = 3. Add the digits of the year together -1975. 1 + 9 + 7 + 5 = 22. Finally, add the month, day, and year digits together -1, 3, 22. 1 + 3 + 22 = 26. Reduce 26. 2 + 6 = 8. The Birthpath number for October 3, 1975 is 8.

October 3, 1975
Birth Month: October (the 10th month)
Birth Day: 3
Birth Year: 1975
Birth Month: 10 = 1 + 0 = 1
Birth Day: 3
Birth Year: 1975 = 1 + 9 + 7 + 5 = 22
Add Month + Day + year: 1 + 3 + 22 = 26
Reduce 26: 2 + 6 = 8
The Birthpath Number is 8. (Written as 8-Birthpath)

Example #2

For example, if a person was born on November 26, 1973 (11/26/1973), add the digits of the month together -11. 1 + 1 = 2. Add the digits of the day together -26. 2 + 6 = 8. Add the digits of the year together -1973. 1 + 9 + 7 + 3 = 20. Finally, add the month, day, and year digits together -2, 8, 2. 2 + 8 + 2 = 12. Reduce 12. 1 + 2 = 3. The Birthpath number for November 26, 1973 is 3.

November 26, 1973
Birth Month: November (the 11th month) = 11 = 1 + 1 = 2
Birth Day: 26 = 2 + 6 = 8
Birth Year: 1973 = 1 + 9 + 7 + 3 = 20; 2 + 0 = 2
Birth Month + Birth Day + Birth Year = 2 + 8 + 2 = 12
Reduce 21: 2 + 1 = 3
The Birthpath Number is 3. (Written as 3-Birthpath)

Example #3

For example, if a person was born on May 30, 1965 (05/30/1965), There is no need to add the digits of the month since it is a single digit—5. Add the digits of the day together -30. 3 + 0 = 3. Add the digits of the year together -1965. 1 + 9 + 6 + 5 = 21, and reduce = 2 + 1 = 3. Finally, add the month, day, and year digits together -5, 3, 3. 5 + 3 + 3 = 11. Since 11 is a master number, do not reduce it any farther. The Birthpath number for May 30, 1965 is 11.

May 30, 1965
Birth Month: May (the 5th month) = 5
Birth Day: 30 = 3 + 0 = 3
Birth Year: 1965 = 1 + 9 + 6 + 5 = 21; 2 + 1 = 3
Birth Month + Birth Day + Birth Year = 5 + 3 + 3 = 11
The Birthpath Number is 11. (Written as 11-Birthpath)
